Women being portrayed
as object in the media and in advertisement is no secret that women have
overlooked but the money keeps rolling in for these types of advertisements as
above It is common in advertisements to have a women’s body dismembered to sell
a product. Why though? We now this advertisement is for shaving gel but would
it not sell if an identity of a woman was kept in the picture. It doesn’t matter;
your head could be a fruit, as look as you have a nice “pear” of legs.
Different women have different opinions on how offensive this type of advertisement is.

"I'm not offended. The products is trying to sell the scent, thats why they did it not because they don't like women to have rights. People over react about this type of thing, its just shaving gel."
On the other hand Emily, a small business owner in park slope said; "I don't understand why they had to put a pear on a woman's leg, why cant it be a picture of a woman shaving with pears all around her... or something like that. I mean, that sort of thing would still piss off feminist but its a step closer to seeing women as women not objects."
Maybe it is because the legs are not being shown in a overtly sexual way but women have come to accept this type of use of the body as a form of advertising and not the message it might be sending behind it.
